The Alexandria Fire Department was first organized in 1937. Today, the department operates out of a single station and protects 20,000 citizens of Alexandria and surrounding Campbell County. The department operates out of a modern facility completed in 1999. This area continues to experience rapid growth and a second fire station is in the current long-term plans.

06/09 - Alexandria has placed Medic 191 into service, it is a paramedic first responder that covers Alexandria, Campbell County Fire District 1 and Melbourne.
02/09 - The new Spartan/Summit heavy rescue has arrived for R120.
03/08 - Alexandria currently has a new heavy rescue on order with Summit. Delivery is expected in late 2008.
