The department operated out of a single station and protected a largely unincorporated, primarily rural area
in southerm Kenton County. Formerly a volunteer department, Kenton became a combination paid / volunteer department.
The department disbanded in 2019,and fire / ems coverage is now provided by the Piner Fiskburg Fire Protection District.
