Eastern Campbell Fire Department
3707 Smith Road
California, KY 41007
Prior to 1964, fire protection for southeastern Campbell County was provided by Alexandria, but response times were slow. The Eastern Campbell Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1964 to protect the communities of California and Mentor along with surrounding unicorporated areas. In 1980 the department changed to a fire protection district and began providing EMS coverage. In 1988, the original station (pictured right) burned down and all but one apparatus was destroyed. The department rebuilt at the same location and that same station serves today as Station 52 of Campbell County Fire District 1.
